Bored during lockdown? Have a listen to Steve's series of Podcasts, The Corona Diaries.
It took Covid19 to get Steve going but now he has gone into frenzy... there's The Prologue to give you a feel of what's coming and now there are three episodes to listen to either from the-corona-diaries.captivate.fm/listen where you can opt for the Podcast app of your choice or via Steve's own website, www.stevehogarth.com.
Episode One: This Strange Podcast
Well it's the first episode proper and why not start by joining the dots to the lyric from This Strange Engine. I have talked about this occasionally at some of the H Natural shows and Ant (Producer and question asker) had remembered one such occurrence. So we considered it, for about the length of time it took the kettle to boil, and decided it would be an interesting place to start. Following on from that, I have the first few chapters from the published diaries for you. Today I am reading from Volume 1, which covers 1991-1997.
Episode Two: Proper Prog Credentials
Whilst chatting off mic during the recording of Chapter 1, Ant was a little taken aback when I began talking about the the bands I had been into in my formative years. He had assumed, and I can kind of see why, that I had always been a bit of a popster in my youth. So we decided it would make an interesting place to start a gentle ramble through my musical influences. After that I read a little more for the diary. Iceland, London, Wales and Poland (in a matter of days!) and a heady mix of mid-air near-misses and unexpected encounters.
Episode Three: The World's Greatest Case Study
It's quite apt (bearing in mind the name of the podcast) that this episode is the first one we have recorded under lockdown conditions. And after a few technical issues, you know the kind of thing - zoom settings, microphone positioning, headphone monitoring, putting my tooth in, it all went rather well. It's a little hard to describe Chapter Three in just a few words as we managed to distract ourselves quite a bit whilst we were talking. So although it might meander (and I can't guarantee I answered as many questions as Ant asked) it should hopefully entertain. Thanks for all of your feedback so far, some of which we talked about in this episode, and please keep it coming.
Keep checking back for more words of wit and wisdom!
