Support on Friday Night will be from Panic Room. Fronted by Anne-Marie Helder - twice winner of ‘Best Female Vocalist’ in the Prog Magazine Readers’ Poll - the band hail from Wales, England, and Singapore.
With diverse backgrounds and vastly eclectic influences, these 5 musicians have a deep well of ideas to draw from.
Infamously hard to define, Panic Room create a 'fascinating fusion of sound’. Full of twists and turns, you’ll hear blistering rock riffs followed by slick jazzy grooves; a beautiful atmospheric anthem leading into a hypnotic eastern frenzy; an achingly honest heart-song, right next to a jam full of quirky experimentation.
Among the line-up are Dave Foster on lead guitar and Yatim Halimi on bass - who Marillion fans will also know from their work with the Steve Rothery Band.Drummer Gavin Griffiths has played with Fish, Bill Nelson, and countless other legends; while completing the group is keyboard maestro Jonathan Edwards, who is one of the band’s main songwriters alongside Anne-Marie.
Panic Room’s set at the Dutch Weekend will be their first performance alongside the legendary band; although regular Weekenders may remember Anne-Marie playing a solo set at the festival in 2009. She says: "I am deeply honoured and fizzing with excitement to be invited back to Port Zélande... this time with my boys! We can’t wait to get there, meet you all, and hopefully deliver a mindblowing set to kick off your Friday night with a bang!"
2017 is set to be a momentous year for Panic Room - they plan to record a ‘’brave, fresh and innovative” new studio album in Spring (their 6th), followed by a major run of tour dates; and they will also release a stunning new Live DVD in March.
