Couch Convention Support Artists

To kick the 2020 Couch Convention off in style Marillion chose a number of bands to feature as support artists.

In case you want to discover more about the bands here is some information about them:

The Cyberiam

Comprising some of Chicago's most accomplished musicians, The Cyberiam have come together to create their own unique brand of hard progressive rock described as "heavy, atmospheric prog of bands like Porcupine Tree and Tool with a good melodic and pop sensibility".

Their self-titled debut album and stunning live shows have them rapidly building a rabid following.

The Cyberiam began in 2016 when keyboardist Frank Lucas, was looking to form a progressive rock band. At a show one night, he struck up a conversation with well-known Chicago performer Keith Semple after noticing his Dream Theater tattoo. Semple had crossed paths with Lateralus drummer Tommy Murray on numerous occasions. The trio had already begun writing what would become the band first album when Murray invited Full Moon Fire band mate, Brian Kovacs, to lend his beefy bass skills. With the band fully formed, writing and recording was completed. The Cyberiam's self-titled debut was released in February 2018. That year was filled with producing videos, performing live shows including a set at Progtoberfest IV, and receiving a host of accolades.

Haunt The Woods

Blending sounds from alternative, prog, folk and pop and channelling influences from the likes of Pink Floyd, Muse, Jeff Buckley and Radiohead, Haunt The Woods have crafted a distinctive sound, glistening with ambient swells and underpinned by expressive rhythms and masterly songwriting.

The band's two EPs, 'The Line' and 'Circle' have established them as one of the South West's most exciting acts, leading to shows with KT Tunstall, Sunset Sons and Embrace.

Singles released from their upcoming album, produced by Peter Miles at Middle Farm Studios in Newton Abbot, continue to build their fervent fanbase.

After turning heads with a series of captivating live shows including a sold-out Carnglaze Caverns, festivals such as Glastonbury, Boardmasters and Port Elliot, and headlining Plymouth Pavilions 'Introduces' showcase, Jon, Phoenix, Olly and Jack released their debut LP 'Opaque' to rave reviews in March 2020.

This Winter Machine

This Winter Machine are a melodic progressive rock band from Yorkshire. Influenced by everything from Rush to Marillion, neo prog to British new wave.

They've been going almost four years and in that time have released two well received albums - 'The Man Who Never Was' and' A Tower of Clocks', and would have almost certainly released their third if it hadn't been for this pesky virus mucking things up.

The new album 'Kites' is out soon.

Harry Dunn

Harry Dunn's life was cut short tragically on 27 August 2019.

Aged 19 years old, doing what he loved best, out riding his motorbike, he was struck and killed by a car being driven by Anne Sacoolas from the US who was driving on the wrong side of the road near RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire. She fled the country claiming diplomatic immunity, in an attempt to evade prosecution. The British authorities are demanding her return and have sought her extradition.

A worldwide alert has been sent out to police forces to locate, arrest and return her to the UK. She is now officially a fugitive on the run.

As Harry lay dying in hospital his mum, Charlotte, promised him that she would campaign for justice. She, along with the family, continue in this struggle. It has neither been easy or straightforward.

Two of Harry's brothers, Ciaran and Michael, have stepped up to record a beautiful song in Harry's memory, a tribute to their brother, to help raise money for a new foundation in Harry's name. No family should ever go through what they have been through and monies raised through the song will enable them to help others who may find themselves in this awful situation, bereaved, with right on their side, but without the financial means to fight for justice.

Steve Hogarth (who is godfather to the children of the Dunn Family Spokesman, Radd Seiger) offered the band's studio to the brothers to record the song, shortly before lockdown in the UK began, and also plays piano on the track. The song has been produced by Michael Hunter and is available in worldwide digital download and streaming stores.
